A key feature of the Epidural Audit System is the integral report generator. Audit reports for any chosen time periods can be produced by department or individual anaesthetist. Customised reports can be generated for specific techniques, individuals and whole departments.

The system is based on the direct entry of core audit data into a database. Data capture is linked to three well defined events in the time course of an obstetric epidural:

• insertion
• delivery
• follow-up

Options for the use of hand held computers (PDAs) for some or all of the data capture.
